The Reverend Canon Richard Dennis Visconti, D. Min., Rector


Canon Richard Dennis Visconti was born and educated in New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College, a Masters in Divinity from Sacred Heart School of Theology and a Doctorate in Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He also attended the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin Texas. He was ordained to the Priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church in 1981 ministering as a Hospital Chaplain in Arizona.

Canon Visconti was received into the Episcopal Church in 1985. Canon Visconti was Assistant Rector at St. Matthew's Church, Bedford, New York from 1985-1990 and Rector of St. Mary's Church in Charleroi, Pennsylvania from 1990-1995. He comes to Caroline Church from St. Michael's Episcopal Church and Day School in Carmichael, California, where he was Rector since 1995.

Cn. Visconti is a chaplain in the Order of St. Luke, served as Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Northern California, Province VIII coordinator for ecumenical affairs, and President of the North State Ecumenical Conference. He has been the Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Long Island since coming to Caroline Church, has been Province II coordinator for ecumenical affairs, serves on the Ecclesiastical Court for the Diocese, and is a member of the board of directors for Protestant Campus Ministry, the Long Island Council of Churches, Meals on Wheels and Stony Brook Hospital Ethics Committee.

Father Visconti is married to Janna, and they have two children, Cassie and Andrew.

All Souls' is a mission church. While the formal partnership with All Souls' Church in Stony Brook is no longer in force, our two churches will continue to share resources, including continued joint confirmation classes, youth group activities, adult Christian formation programs, clergy “on call” arrangements and occasional pulpit exchanges.
